The Management Committee initially comprised some 12 members.
The requirement was based on the wide skill base required to get the Save The White Lion project off the ground.
As the various tasks have been achieved, this number has been pruned back to eight members. The Rules of BCP require that at the first AMM all these members must retire but they can, however, stand for re-election.
To preserve a democratic process, going forward, the Rules provide that at each subsequent AMM one third of the members must resign on a rotational basis. They can, of course, stand for re-election.
The Management Committee has decided that, in the future, it makes a lot of sense to have a committee of nine which makes it a simple matter for three members to resign each year.
Further, the addition of an additional member will allow for a wider and more democratic membership.
So at the AMM, the members of BCP will be voting to appoint nine members.
In advance of the AMM applications will be sought from the community but it is essential that certain skills are retained within the committee.
These are in the treasury, legal and compliance functions. For this reason any applicants for these roles will need to demonstrate their experience for the specific function. Other members will be elected on an open basis.
